Mr. Herzberg,

First off, I would like to thank you so much for the scholarship. It is truly an honor to be announced as the recipient for the Eric Herzberg Memorial Scholarship. Next year, I will be attending the University of Pennsylvania. There I will be doing a coordinated dual-degree program there called The Jerome Fisher Program in Management & Technology. I am currently undecided on my major and concentration but I am thinking about majoring in either bioengineering or CS in Penn School of Engineering and concentrating in Finance and Management in the Wharton School of Business. I am sure the next year will be challenging and am looking forward to experiencing new things. I would like to thank you again for choosing me as the recipient of this scholarship! I have attached some pictures from the award ceremony.

Best wishes,
Jeffrey

Update January 2017:

Hey Mr. Herzberg,
I am sorry for the late response! How were your holidays and new years? I was able to fix the amount on the check with financial aid services. School has been fun. I have met a lot of new people, really smart people. It has also been challenging. The work load is a lot more than in high school but I think i have acclimated well to this new environment as well as the workload. I have enjoyed my classes so far, especially on the Wharton side as they are so applicable to everyday life. I am also playing hockey here at Penn which is a nice stress reliever as all the thoughts of school and homework melt on the ice. Thank you for checking in!

Best, Jeffrey

Update July 2017:

Hey Mr. Herzberg,

How are you doing? I just wanted to check in and give you a quick update about what has been going on with me. I have completed my first year here at Penn and it went by so quickly. It was a lot of work and I was busy almost all the time with many early mornings doing my homework. I am glad to be done with the first year and am looking forward to continuing. Next year, I hope to begin OCR which is on-campus recruiting in hope of finding an internship for next summer in either investment banking or project management. I am unsure however. I spent the beginning of this summer relaxing and learning how to code for Android as well as brushing up on some Java. Now, I am an residential teaching assistant at M&TSI (Management and Technology Summer Institute), which is a summer program for high school juniors and seniors wanting to try out the M&T Program, which is the program I am currently in here at Penn. It is really fun and exciting! We are currently on our second day of orientation but I cant wait for the program to start and for the high school students to arrive!

Thanks! I hope you are doing well!
Best, Jeffrey

Jeffrey – thank you for staying in touch.  It certainly looks like you are settling in and doing well in a challenging environment.  I hope you can find an internship that fits your needs.  Best of luck!

Eric
