Character Does Matter Service Projects – 2013

Similar to 2012, Eric’s dad and representatives from the Travis Manion foundation presented the Character Does Matter program to Severna Park High School. Students then had the opportunity to participate in service projects coordinated by Eric’s dad and earn scholarships funded by both the Travis Manion foundation and Eric’s family.

On June 16, 2012, 102 students and chaparones from Mona Shores Middle School in Michigan met at Arlington Cemetery. This was the fifth consecutive year that Eric Wahlberg and the Mona Shores staff conducted the visit. Melanie and Brendan and two other students presented the wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Character Does Matter Program at Eric’s High School – 2012

On April 19,2012, a program was presented to about 100 students at Eric’s high school in Severna Park called “Character Does Matter”. It taught the students about the role of character in a person’s life and used the examples of Eric’s life and that of Travis Manion, another Fallen hero. The program taught the students about four pillars of character: courage, leadership, integrity and service. Eric’s dad also presented information about a challenge grant he received from the Travis Manion Foundation for $4,500. This will be placed into three $1,500 scholarships to be awarded to SPHS students in the spring of 2013.

Mona Shores School Visit – 2011

On June 18, 2011, approximately 80 students and chaparones from Mona Shores Middle School in Michigan met at Arlington Cemetery. This was the fourth consecutive year that Eric Wahlberg and the Mona Shores staff conducted the visit. Similar to their meetings the last three years, Eric Wahlberg, a teacher at Mona Shores, arranged for the get together.
