June 2023 update:

From Taylor’s Mom Holly – Thought I would update you on the path that Taylor ended up taking. She graduated from college with the degree listed. During her gap year she ended up working in eye care which ended up changing her path forward. She is currently doing a two year fellowship in Memphis to become an Orthoptist. She will complete this in October 2024. She loves working in this field and getting to work with so many children. This is her mom and I have often thought of your loss and how you helped so many people while suffering such a great loss. Thanks for the help you provided Taylor.

Hi Holly – thank you so much for reaching out.  Great to hear about Taylor’s continuing journey so many years later now.  That’s exciting!  We are so happy for her that she has found her passion and is able to pursue it.  Many blessings to you both and we pray for Taylor’s continued health and success.

October 2017 update:

My freshman year attending SU was more than I could have hoped for. The teachers are so helpful here and it’s a very interesting atmosphere to have someone root so hard for you to succeed. My anatomy classes specifically have urged me to focus more on exercise science so I added allied health to my major as well. With all the interesting information presented to me, I’ve become more interested with becoming a physician assistant. I can first assist in surgery, prescribe medicine, and help people feel better every day. This summer I hope to find an internship so I can be accustomed with my future job at a young age. I still have three years to go and two years of grad school but I’m ready for all the fascinating experiences to come.  I would never have been able to accomplish all of this without the scholarship your foundation was so gracious to award me. I still think about Eric’s bravery everyday and wish you all the best with his anniversary coming up. Thank you so much and best wishes to all of you! Taylor Courtney

Taylor – thank you so much for the update.  It sounds like you are finding you passion and pursuing it.  Very cool at such a young age to know what you want.  We will continue to pray for your success and happiness, and will follow your adventures with great interest.  Many blessings to you

August 2016 update:

Dear Eric Herzberg and Family,

Thanks so much for the check that arrived. I have already sent it off to college to help pay for my first year. I have my room and roommate assignment, as well as my class schedule. I’m very excited for school to begin. I promised to send you a couple of more pictures, so here are a couple of pictures besides the one I already sent. Hope you are having a great summer. Taylor Courtney 21

Taylor – it was a pleasure meeting you. We wish you many blessings as you start this next part of your life journey.
